Kattu Chaaru is a lentil soup that is often prepared on a rainy day and winter season,also given to sick people,nursing mothers and to babies from 8 to 12 months. This always tastes better to serve hot,also this is fat burning soup.And this nutritious recipe is easy to digest.
Methi leaves used in this recipe are from my little garden,its always fun growing a vegetable garden especially with kids .Happy cooking to all my viewers.
Methi Kattu Chaaru/Methi Rasam With Daal Recipe:

Ingredients:
Toor daal - 3/4cup
Moong daal - 1/4cup
Tomato - 1medium (roughly chopped)
Ginger - 1inch
Onion - 1small (finely chopped)
Methi leaves - few (finely chopped)
Turmeric pwd - 1/3tsp
Green chilli - 1/optional
Lemon juice - 2tbsp
Water - 2cups+2cups
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Zeera seeds - 1tsp
Hing - 1/3tsp
Curry leaves/flakes - 1tsp
Oil - 1tbsp
Salt to taste
Pepper pwd - 1/3tsp
Method:
1.) Wash toor daal+moong daal together and cook daal with 2cups of water and little turmeric powder in pressure cooker for 3 whistles until soft and keep it aside.
2.) In a blender,blend/puree the chopped tomato+ginger and keep it aside.
3.) Take vessel and add mustard seeds+zeera when the oil is hot. Then add hing+curry flakes at the time of splattering.
4.) Now add chopped(onions+methi) & salt, give it a stir and cook it for 4mins covering with lid.
5.) Add (tomato+ginger) puree,give it a stir and cook it for 7mins or until the raw smell goes away.
6.) Then add water+turmeric and bring it to boil.
7.) Add daal+pepper powder and cook it for 3mins.
8.) Methi kattu chaaru is ready by adding lemon juice and serve it with rice or take it as soup.
