Aloo Mattar Paneer Masala Recipe, on how to make, step by step pictures and preparation!


Aloo Mattar Paneer is a very popular North Indian dish prepared with paneer, peas added to an onion tomato base with few basic Indian spices. It is usually served with naan, roti, chapati and paratha but also goes well with mint rice and zeera rice. This is one of my family favourite dish.

My daughter likes aloo in it. so, I usually add aloo or you can skip aloo and go ahead and make mattar paneer with the same recipe. I have made aloo mattar paneer masala countless times and felt I owed you guys an updated recipe with step by step pictures and procedure on how to make aloo mattar paneer masala.
Serving suggestions&Tips,  always go with freshly crushed ginger garlic paste and avoid store brought ones for better taste. Add paneer before serving for better results. Try to use homemade paneer to enjoy eating that soft and melting in mouth paneer.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: approx 20minutes
Cuisine: Indian/Punjabi
Yields: Serves 3


Ingredients:

Oil - 2 tbsp
Cloves - 2
Zeera/cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
cinnamon - 1inch piece
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Paneer - 150g (cubed)
Onion - 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
Tomato - 2 medium (finely chopped)
Frozen/Fresh Peas - 1/2 cup
Aloo - 1/2 cup (peeled, cubed & washed)
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Zeera powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/3 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - as per your taste
Kasturi/dried methi - 1 tbsp (crushed coarsely)
Water - 1/3cup or little more(desired consistency)
Salt to taste

Method:

1.) Take oil to a frying pan, add dry spices(zeera, cloves, cinnamon) and fry them for 20 seconds then following with ginger garlic paste and saute for 10 seconds. Now add finely chopped  onion along with little salt and fry it until translucent or as shown in the above picture.

2.) Its time to add finely chopped tomato and cook it for 6 minutes or until soft. Now mash well the onion tomato mixture with potato masher, add dry spices (coriander pwd, zeera pwd, turmeric pwd, chilli pwd, garam masala), give it a big stir and cook for 3 more minutes.

3.) Add water, matsuri methi, potato, peas and give it stir and cook(with lid) for 7or8 minutes or until potato is completely cooked and adjust the salt and spiciness.

4.) Now add chopped paneer pieces and stir it very gently as paneer is so soft. Paneer may crumble or mashy if you mix the paneer to the curry base very fast. Cover and cook for 2 minutes.

5.) Aloo mattar paneer masala is ready to serve and enjoy with your lives ones.
